Siteground Uptime - Guarantee VS Reality

As you might already know, this is one of the most important parameters to check when you are looking for a new hosting service for your website. We took our time and checked what Siteground promise and what we actually get. Continue reading.

Uptime Guarantee

Some of the most famous and successful hosting companies are promising some really high uptimes. So are Siteground any different?

Long story short, they actually offer you a great deal. They guarantee an uptime of 99.9%! But that’s not everything. If their commitment to you falls apart somehow and the uptime will go any lower than that – you will receive 1 free month of hosting for every percentage of lost uptime. Pretty great, isn’t it?

Uptime Reality

Now is the part we’ve all been waiting for! What truly goes on with Sitegrounds’ uptime? Well, it isn’t far from the guarantee. Their average uptime, from April 2019 until January 2020 was 99.982% on average.

⭐ Siteground uptime review conclusion ⭐

As we can clearly see, they’ve done a great work until now. Usually, not only they keep their uptime at 99.99% – sometimes they also manage to reach a 100% uptime! Based on that, we rate their uptime as 10 out of 10. But wait! We have a few more things that are very important besides uptime. Make sure to read everything to fully understand what to expect.

Siteground Load Time

Let’s get straight to the point. One of the most important things that we want to check is TTFB, which stands for “Time To First Byte”. A bad TTFB result (usually over 600ms) means that it takes too much time to send the first byte of information from the server to the browser. What does it mean:

  • Server speed – When the server speed is low, it will probably take more time to send the first byte of informaton. Therefore, the total load time of the page will increase. This usually happens when you’re using shared hosting – where many websites are stored on the same hardware.
  • Server location – Let’s say that you’re living in India and you’re targeting the Indian market. But your web host has only servers at the US. In such cases, the TTFB will increase greatly and will affect the overall page speed and probably later on your ranking performence on Google.

Siteground load time review conclusion

We can proudly say that this is probably one of the fastest hosts we ever reviewed. On a few checks we made on Google’s PageSpeed Insights and on GTmetrix, we saw that the TTFB was 210ms ~ 480ms!

We used the GrowBig plan that costs $5.95 a month (for the first invoice only).  This plan is considered their “medium” plan that should fit growing websites. Below, you can see an image of the TTFB result on Google PageSpeed Insights.

We rank Soundground’s load time as 10 out of 10 for Indian users!

Siteground Customer Support

Finally, we’ve reached the humans behind the whole process. From the checks we made, I can surely say that there are some very professional support agents on Sitegroud. I’ve tried to ask the hardest questions possible, and to see how they manage to help me solve the problem.
